I am forced to slow down, by virtue of the killer cold God has sent me. It' s been and exhausting weekend...an exhausting month...an exhausting day.
Rose had her recital this weekend. I curled her hair, instead of using the blasted blonde wig. She was okay with that. I was worried it wouldn't be 'perfect', that she would stand out from the other gals. She did. Her red hair was so lovely. And as far as not fitting in, it bounced just right, so you couldn't tell from the seats that she wasn't wearing a wig. She had such a good time. I'm enjoying so much this level of dancing. It was a very tiring Saturday, though. The practice the night before ran very late, and then the show itself was fairly long, leading to another late night. To top it off, I didn't get Sunday to recover. We had a tea party at 2p, and I was hosting my sister's birthday party at 5. I so wanted to do it for my sister. She does so much for our family. It was a very nice get-together. But I was wiped out last night, and my throat was starting to hurt. I was laying on the couch waiting for Rose to come home. She went to a Cheiftian's concert with my MIL and her cousin. I thought about how she was probably so tired, and falling asleep through it. When she came home, all three burst in the door, lively as ever, all talking at once about how they got to dance on stage to the final song! Rose told me that Paddy Moloney himself told her she was cute, and keep dancing. Wow!!! The little selfish part of me ached a bit to be there, to party with my best gal. When it comes to any of my kids, I just hate to miss a thing. Ah, but she had a great time, and a great memory, and that was most important.
I decided last night, we would clean the house today instead of doing school. I don't know which would've been worse, seeing how I just wasn't feeling well. It was hard to be patient with anyone! Finally at 2p, I laid on the couch and declared it quiet time for a few hours, and slept. Boy, I needed that.
I'm used to just working through sickness, especially if it's just a cold. But I can see some changes to my day tomorrow already. It is so hard for me to let go, and just take care of myself. It's hard to change plans so I can stay home and rest. I think that's what's in store, though.
Sorry this lame post was all about being sick. St. Patrick's day is coming up, and I'll have more exciting things to post then.
